My dog has skin allergies. And it’s not mild. I had to go through a lot to get it under control. This is my story. One day my dog started scratching I thought he had fleas.
So I bathed him and medicated him for fleas. It didn’t work. I thought it was the flea medicine. So again I bathed him and medicated him again with something else. It didn’t work.
I called the vet and made an appointment. Here he has skin allergies. After they did blood work they found out he is allergic to dust mites, pollen, and a few other things. So he started him on a allergy medication and gave me instructions on how to treat him. So now he gets medication everyday and fish oil in dog food. And a oatmeal bath every other week.Plus I vacuum a lot. It’s a lot to do for a 10 pound dog.
But I love him and he is worth it. Oh, and I bought the vet recommended dog food.So I hope my story helps you a little when it comes to skin allergies. It can be frustrating and very demanding at times. I think I took my dog to the vet 3 times before we figured out exactly what he needed.
After that was just maintaining the regiment.
Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to comment or email me firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a wonderful day!!
