Updated Version of the 4-Hour Workweek

Last Updated on Thursday, 27 August 2009 15:46 Thursday, 27 August 2009 15:25

My favorite non-fiction book this year has been Tim Ferriss' The 4-Hour Work Week. In December this year, the book will come out in a new, expanded version, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

This book is actually what got me started on changing course in life. I want more out of life, and by using the principles in Tims book, I believe I can get it. That's not saying I will only work 4 hours a week. Not by far - but that's not even the intention of the author. If you haven't read the book, or at least heard about it, I strongly encourage you to take a look at it. He's got some really out-of-the box thinking going on. Tims love for and approach to languages is something I loved from the first minute and I've started doing some language reactivation of Italian and German following his principles. More about that in a later post.

The new version of The 4-Hour Workweek includes:

  • More than 50 practical tips and case studies from readers (including families) who have doubled income, overcome common sticking points, and reinvented themselves using the original book as a starting point
  • Real-world templates you can copy for eliminating e-mail, negotiating with bosses and clients, or getting a private chef for less than $8 a meal
  • How Lifestyle Design principles can be suited to unpredictable economic times
  • The latest tools and tricks, as well as high-tech shortcuts, for living like a diplomat or millionaire without being either

That's more than a 100 pages of new, cutting-edge content.

What Going Bankrupt Taught Me About Business

Last Updated on Thursday, 27 August 2009 15:47 Tuesday, 25 August 2009 16:37

Going bankruptIn 2004, a small company I'd been an integral part of on a daily basis, went bankrupt. It was a tough decision to throw in the towel. At first, I felt like it was five years spent in vain. Five years of planning, running and fighting for a business - and now it was all a waste.

Gradually, I changed my perception on the whole situation and decided to focus on the positive sides of it - and how to learn from what I've experienced.

So, I've come up with the following to keep in mind if you're facing a business crisis or struggling to save your company. I hope they're of some use for you as well.

Stopped Using iEarn on the iPhone

I have several blogs and websites, and on most of them I have ads hosted by Google Adsense. This is fun and I make some money from it as well.

After a while, I developed a habit of checking the earnings on Adsense a little too often. I even installed a program on my iPhone called iEarn. It enabled me to check my earnings from anywhere, anytime.

- Great, I thought initially. Until it became almost like an obsession...!

Finally Quit Checking Email Every Minute

Last Updated on Friday, 21 August 2009 16:04 Tuesday, 14 July 2009 21:39

After being an email addict for God-knows how many years, I finally decided to do something about it.

I've had some runs to unclutter my email. It's involved setting up email rules to filter mails on various criteria, using folders for urgent emails (do they exist??), paused and archived emails etc.
